So, what's an extraordinarily left-brained guy with an engineering degree doing writing fantasy stories for DargonZine? Well, it's true, except for writing I have absolutely no artistic skills. I have always loved reading, particularly fantasy, thanks to early influences by C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia and some books by a guy named J.R.R. Tolkien. Then I got into the hard stuff: Fafhrd, the Gray Mouser, Conan, Kane. You know, the usual crowd of miscreants. I was hooked.I first started writing when I was around sixteen. It didn't take me long to realize that my writing was derivative crap, and I gave it up for almost twenty years. Then a strange thing happened. I got involved in some on-line written roleplaying at a site called The Tipsy Imp. I discovered that I really enjoyed it, particularly when a character or storyline took over and demanded to be written. When the Imp closed down, I decided to try to get something that I had written published. Along the way, I stumbled into Dargon. It didn't take me long to figure out that it was a strange and wonderful place, so I decided to stay. After some frequent beatings (mostly by Orn and Pam), I discovered that I maybe didn't understand grammar as well as I though. I took that feedback to heart, though, and I think it really helped my writing. I now enjoy passing on the "tough love" to others.
