Suppose I should put out a status report!

Biggest news was that I've got 99% of the redesign done. We should be  
good to switch the site over to Redesign-A in a couple of weeks. This  
will open the door to establishing more links with other sites via a  
blogroll, and I'll start implementing monthly recruitment posts in  
Craigslist and other venues to try and get some new writers  
interested. I'm excited!

Following that, I'll start converting the archive of our old stories  
over to the redesign. I've created a number of scripts that can  
convert the issue and story pages fairly quickly. I imagine I'll start  
having more problems the further back I go since I have no doubt that  
the formatting will change, but now that I've got the hang of regular  
expressions (more or less) it seems to be easier. I've already  
converted volumes 21, 20, and 19 but I have to work with Liam and Orn  
on how we want to deal with them. I'd like to move issues out of the  
main DZ directory and into a subdirectory, but we have links to those  
stories in the database and out on the web. Moving them into a  
subdirectory will probably mean writing some redirects and updating  
the database. I'll think more about that later.

I set-up a Google Group and Yahoo Group, neither of which seem to get  
much traffic. I was hoping that listing the site in the group's  
directories might get us a little bit of action, but nothing so far.

Facebook has gotten us 24 referral visits. I'm going to do some  
Facebook advertising to see if I can get our fan count out.

I've investigated advertising in some program books at local sci-fi  
conventions in Michigan. Could also host some events or sponsor  
something. I'm thinking about it.

I have a programmer making a mod for the SMF forums so that every post  
can be e-mailed to a list server address. The current set-up only  
notifies you of the first new post but no subsequent posts. That  
should be done in two weeks.

I've been working on my Nar-Enthruen stories (there will be two at  
this point). Hopefully I can get a draft out in the next 30 days.

And that's about it. I think. If there's anything else, I'll let you  
guys know!
