I almost responded the same way to this, then I thought it might fuel a 
fire unnecessarily. I do agree with Jon that this is the wrong attitude 
to take for DZ. I suspect, though, that Carlo was trying to defuse a 
potential conflict between Jon and Mark.

Here's my take on it. Yes, we are here to improve each other's writing. 
But, it's really about making us the best writers we can be, not 
necessarily making every story the *best* possible story it can be. I do 
think that is something to strive for, but when the story has ceased to 
be useful as a learning tool (i.e. the writer is tired of it and wants 
to move on), it's time to decide is the story is publishable or not, and 
wrap it up.
