Even "professional" worlds -- note the quotes -- created by commercial
entities have problems with consistency. I think it's acceptable that
when we, as a hobbyist group, do come across problems in our shared
world that we bring them up to the list. And I think, for the sake of
self-respect, we should try to correct situations that contradict
themselves.
Now, as a group based on a consensus-driven decision model, I always
wonder how the heck we ever get anything done because when one or two
people point something out, most people fail to even notice it and
reply in a timely manner. At what point do we determine that a
consensus has been reached? Or that most people don't care? I have no
vested interest in what we do about Melrin's placement on the
calendar. I just want it to make some semblance of sense or be able to
explain it to an outsider.
Even tho you, Daf, noted Melrin as a mid-year festival in some
stories, I think the general list's understanding was that it was
always intended to be a spring festival. And, funny enough, even
though Melrin is a spring festival, it *still* falls mid-year in our
calendar -- it being six months in from the beginning. So,
technically, it *is* a mid-year festival and a spring festival at the
same time. It all depends on how you interpret "mid-year."
At any rate, I'd like to make a graphical calendar to help writers and
be able to explain it. Do we want to leave everything the same and
live with the contradiction, redefine Melrin as a summer festival, or
move the equini to correctly make it a temporal spring festival again?
Any thoughts on this?
