puzzle box
Description A puzzle box is a box, often carved of wood, that requires the solving of a puzzle to open it. If it seems to have a lid, that lid may not be the actual opening of the box, or it may require some complex set of movements to unlock that lid. Puzzle boxes sometimed don't even have a defined lid, which makes determining how to open it that much harder. The puzzle involved in opening the box usually involves sliding bits of wood around, and/or rotating the box in a prescribed manner. Sometimes clues as to what to do are present in the carvings or decorations on the box.
